Congratulations on becoming a United States citizen! Among the rights and advantages you have just gained are:

  • the right to vote
  • eligibility to hold state and federal jobs, and other jobs where U.S. citizenship is required
  • protection from anti-immigrant laws—citizens cannot be deported!
  • the right to travel without limitations on how long you can stay outside the United States
  • ease of reentry
  • the right to sponsor family members to come to the United States
