
Bronx Community College has served as the "Gateway to Success" for more than 32,000 graduates who have gone on to earn bachelor's degrees or pursue careers as skilled professionals and technicians. Located on New York City's highest natural peak, the College's 54-acre campus provides an inspiring setting for learning, with tree-lined walks, spacious lawns, and ivy-covered buildings.
Bronx Community College was founded in 1957 to meet the growing need for access to higher education in the borough of the Bronx. It was one of the original undergraduate colleges that joined together in 1961 to create The City University of New York.
Over the past decade, the College has extended its outreach to New York City's economic, educational, and cultural institutions through partnerships with business and industry. Bronx Community College has also developed collaborative programs with pre-college institutions, enabling it to offer more and better services.

- Students can choose from a wide range of associate degree and certificate programs. Programs in the health professions and technology are particularly popular. Programs unique to Bronx Community College include nuclear medicine, ornamental horticulture, and environmental technology.
- Students can choose day or evening programs. Many courses are also offered on Saturdays and Sundays.
- The College's 200 full-time faculty members provide expert instruction.
- Students can supplement classroom instruction with tutoring and courses in English as a Second Language (ESL) as needed.
- The College has a nationally recognized Learning Resources Center on campus. It includes the Academic Computing Center and the Personal and Academic Support Services Center (PASS).
- Experienced faculty advisors and a professional counseling staff help students select the programs best suited to their needs and goals. Advisors also provide guidance regarding finances, making sound career decisions, and coping with personal needs.
- Since a large number of BCC students work as well as have children, the College offers a wide range of support services, including licensed day care for the pre-school children of enrolled students. An after-school education and recreation program for school-age youth is also available.
- Extracurricular activities are an integral part of many BCC students' educational experience. The College offers a complete spectrum of organizations, clubs, activities, and athletic teams.

- Liberal arts and sciences transfer students choosing the Associate in Science (AS) degree can select an option in biology, chemistry, or physics. This program ensures that students earning an AS degree can transfer all credits to a four-year institution.
Liberal Arts and Sciences
This is the choice for students planning to transfer to a senior college to
complete a bachelor's degree. Students planning to obtain a bachelor's
degree in such fields as communications, fine arts, social science,
etc., should select Liberal Arts-AA degree. Students interested in
transferring into baccalaureate programs in computer science,
engineering science, or business administration should select
appropriate curricula leading to an AS degree. Liberal arts and
sciences are offered at every community college in CUNY.

Special Programs
The Minority Biomedical Research Support Program enables participants to conduct laboratory biomedical research under the direction of a research scientist.
The Honors Program fosters academic excellence through challenging assignments, personalized instruction and faculty mentors.
The Research Enrichment Activities Project (REAP) enables students to participate in a variety of science and research activities, including how to design experiments, write scientific papers and evaluate research.
The Alliance for Minority Participation in Science, Engineering and Mathematics (AMP) Program encourages the participation of minority students in scientific, engineering, and mathematical disciplines.
The Collegiate Science Technology Entrance Program (CSTEP) is increasing the number of historically underrepresented and disadvantaged college students who enroll in and complete undergraduate and graduate programs that lead to professional licensure or to careers in mathematics, science, technology, and health-related fields.
The Study Abroad Program allows students in a wide variety of subjects to study at universities in Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia.
The Paris/ CUNY Exchange Program. The CUNY BA/BS Baccalaureate Program is intended for self-directed, academically strong students who have well-formulated academic and career goals.
CUNY Bridge to College Program is designed for entering freshmen who need additional work on their basic skills.
CUNY Language Immersion Program is for entering freshmen who have already been admitted to a CUNY college and who need additional language preparation.
The Fast Track Program allows students to complete a course over four weekends on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Cooperative Educational Work Experiences offers opportunities in accounting, data processing, retail business management, marketing, paralegal studies, and secretarial studies. English as a Second Language (ESL) is taught three semester sequence courses.
Facts
- According to the U.S. Department of Education, BCC awards more associate degrees to minority students than any other college in the country.
- The Hall of Fame for Great Americans is a New York landmark located on the BCC campus. Designed by the renowned architect Stanford White, the Hall is a large open-air colonnade housing bronze portrait busts of the honorees. Founded in 1900, it is the nation's original "Hall of Fame."
- At BCC's Center for Teaching Excellence and Educational Technologies, faculty members at the College learn how to become better teachers by making more effective use of technology.

Shuttle bus service from the campus to the subway is available in the evening during the semester.
