CUNY Shorts Winners

The CUNY Sustainable Shorts video contest on YouTube came to a conclusion on Earth Day, but the outstanding "Going Green" videos" will live on. The winner was selected by students and Sustainable CUNY leaders, based on both content and public viewership with a goal of inspiring others to live sustainably. There were 23 submissions; some serious, some musical, some funny, but all strove to spread the word on ways to 'Go Green'.The top five videos played at the Kingsborough Eco-fest and at La Guardia Community College's Earth Day event.

YouTube has become one of the most popular media outlets in the world and an ideal venue for reaching thousands of viewers. Twenty-three outstanding submissions received nearly 8,000 views to-date with Darryl Thurston, a student at Kingsborough Community College winning first prize.

Thurston delivered a very sustainable message titled 'Keep My Earth Clean' through the eyes of his daughter Olivia and was pronounced the winner of the $500.00 first prize at KCC's Eco Fest 2009." Rounding out the top five were:

2. "A Greener World" by Baruch's ECO

3."Oh What a Site" by CSI Green Techs

4."Green CUNY Sing Along" by Michele Forsten (City Tech) and Barry Mitchell (Grad Center)

5."Greeny Earth" by DAK at LAGCC
