CAT has a proven track record of strengthening three key life skills: literacy, critical thinking and social-emotional competency. At the heart of CAT is a commitment to helping youth learn how to learn, which has fueled our mission and the development of our unique CATalyst Method(c)(SM pending).
Students in an intensive in-class CAT partnership with three middle schools have succeeded in raising their standardized test results. Student attendance and participation have also risen.
The 15 teens and young adults who made the trip agree that it was a life-changing experience. Among their most treasured memories are having been "exposed to many different kinds of theatre" and made a new "international group of friends."
"CAT's presence gave our students a unique academic and artistic experience. They learned to use the arts as a catalyst to learning," said Dr. James Mirrione, an American UAEU faculty member and CAT cofounder who arranged the visit.
