The development of successful relationships with partners who share CAT's mission of service to the young people and families of New York City is a continuing priority.
CURRENT PARTNERSHIPS INCLUDE:
CUNY Black Male Initiative (BMI)
A new initiative intended to increase, encourage, and support the inclusion and educational success of under-represented groups in higher education, in particular back males - CAT explores important issues using drama, improvisation, skill building and other interactive strategies.
Homes for the Homeless
With support from the DOH, CAT provides workshops in various shelters, with a focus on life skills and health and wellness.
New York State Department of Health: AIDS Institute
CAT has been providing HIV/AIDS awareness workshops for many years. In 2007, CAT partnered with the New York City and State Departments of Health, as well as the NYC DOE to organize and facilitate a 5-borough peer education project, involving multiple schools and community-based organizations (CBOs). This multiple-agency project has now grown to include professional development, teacher training, and presentation skills workshops, all provided by CAT.
NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD)
DYCD continues to be one of CAT's oldest continual partners with multiple contracts and many collaborations over the years. Our newest collaboration is the Adolescent Literacy Program (ADL), which is a long-term project focusing on upper elementary school students' literacy skills and academic self-perceptions.
NYC Department of Education (DOE)
The DOE is another long-term partner with contracts ranging from Early Childhood Professional Development to Prevention & Intervention Services.
NYC Department of Corrections (DOC)
CAT has worked in Rikers Island education facilities with incarcerated youth for the past 15 years, focusing on life skills, violence prevention, and health and wellness. We are now developing a new project for work with Rikers' Corrections Officers.
