Black Male Initiative (BMI)
An important initiative intended to increase, encourage, and support the inclusion and educational success of under-represented groups in higher education, in particular black males. All programs and activities of the Black Male Initiative are open to all academically eligible students, faculty and staff, without regard to race, gender, national origin, or other characteristic. »
Latino Faculty Initiative (LFI)
Established in Fall 2006, the Latino Faculty Initiative seeks to link qualified Latino(a) candidates to faculty positions within CUNY. To this end, the initiative engages in outreach and recruitment and works with CUNY colleges to advance faculty diversity.

New Community College Initiative (NCC)
In February 2008, Chancellor Matthew Goldstein asked Senior University Dean for Academic Affairs John Mogulescu to begin a process that that would lead to the opening of a new CUNY community college. »
School of Public Health Initiative
CUNY is forming a university-wide School of Public Health to be sited at Hunter College. It is a collaborative School of Public Health primarily involving Brooklyn College, the CUNY Graduate Center, Hunter College, and Lehman College, but other CUNY colleges are involved as well. »
