SPH Founding and Acting Dean Appointed

The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York has appointed Dr. Kenneth Olden as Founding and Acting Dean of the new CUNY School of Public Health to be sited at Hunter College. »

CUNY is forming a university-wide School of Public Health to be sited at Hunter College. It is a collaborative School of Public Health primarily involving Brooklyn College, the CUNY Graduate Center, Hunter College, and Lehman College, but other CUNY colleges are involved as well.

CUNY's School of Public Health is the only School of Public Health in the United States to focus on urban public health, an increasingly important subject because the world's population is increasingly urban (predicted to be over 75% by 2030). CUNY's School of Public Health offers community-based public health doctoral and master's degrees in the areas of Biostatistics; Epidemiology; Health Policy and Management; Urban Occupational and Environmental Health; and Community, Society, and Health (including specialties in Nutrition). Undergraduate public health degrees may also be included in the new School.
