Filing an Application

Peter F. Vallone Academic Scholarship Program

Awards funds annually for 10 semesters of baccalaureate degree study. This award is dependent on annual funding by the NYC Council.

  • High school average of B or better with a minimum of 12 high school academic units
  • Graduation from a New York City high school within the past 12 months with no attendance at any postsecondary institution
  • Must enroll as a full-time student
  • In order to retain eligibility, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA. In addition, baccalaureate degree students must complete 90 credits by the end of the 8th semester.
  • There is no application for this scholarship; students must be admitted to a CUNY college and must have completed the FAFSA.

Anthony Mason Scholarship

  • African-American male high school student
  • Demonstrated academic and athletic excellence

Aviation Management Scholarship Program

Awards $1,750 annually
Provides $250 toward flight instruction

  • High school average of 85
  • SAT 1000 (old), 1550 (new)
  • 300-500 essay
  • Pass CUNY Assessment Test (or be exempt)

YC/FDA Scholars Program

Awards full tuition ($4,000), $2,000 stipend, and a laptop computer

  • High school average of 90

  • SAT 1200 (old), 1750 (new)

  • Science project

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • Pass CUNY Assessment Test (or be exempt)

  • No application required. Applicants will be screened for eligibility upon admission to the College and review of materials by York College faculty.

York College Computer and Mathematics Scholar Support Coalition Program (CMSSC)

Awards stipend up to $1,560 per semester

  • Full-time student
  • Major in math, computer science, information systems management, orcommunications technology
  • Demonstrated academic potential
  • Financial need
  • One-page essay

York College Foundation Scholarships

Provides awards ranging from $1,000 - $2,500 annually

  • High school average of 80
  • 13 academic units completed (end of junior year)
  • Pass CUNY Assessment Test (or be exempt)
  • No application required. Applicants will be screened for eligibility upon admission to the college.

The CUNY Belle Zeller Scholarship Trust Fund

Awards full tuition

  • Full-time undergraduate student carrying at least 12 credits
  • Completed at least 16 CUNY credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better

New York State World Trade Center Memorial Scholarship

Awards full tuition

  • Children or a spouse of deceased or severely and permanently disabled victims of September 11, 2001

Samuel J. Hartenberg Memorial Scholarship

Awards $750

  • Full-time matriculated students with between 28 and 68 earned credits
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Taken at least one philosophy course at York College and earned a grade of "B" or higher

Suma Ching-Hai Scholarship

Awards $750

  • Declared major in Health Education or Mathematics
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Completed at least 28 credits

Thomas Jefferson Award

Awards $625

  • Declared major in Natural Sciences or Mathematics
  • Full-time enrollment; completed at least 28 credits
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
