In addition to a diverse student body, a necessary element of excellence in education is the existence of a diverse faculty, staff and administration. Certainly CUNY must continue to attract a highly qualified faculty. We will continue support of a number of successful initiatives to recruit faculty and begin others. Our strategy is to increase CUNY's presence in the academic settings that highly qualified candidates frequent. Among additional initiatives being considered are those that will build relationships with Majority-Minority serving colleges and universities, develop faculty from the 400,000 plus students in the CUNY system, revitalize our vitae management process, and overhaul our hiring processes to align them with IE objectives.
