GEP Grant Writing Assistance Program
Spring 2010 Registration Deadline: 2 November 2009
New - Faculty from Baruch, Medgar Evers, and New York City Tech are eligible for participation
Description:
The GEP Grant Writing Assistance Program has as its goal the professional development of women engaged in basic science and engineering at participating CUNY schools. The NSF, GEP, CUNY Central, and Hunter College recognize that women scientists typically have fewer resources and opportunities than do men. The GEP Grant Writing Assistance Program is innovative, with direct action to benefit women's professional development and scientific work by providing support and resources that will enhance women's ability to successfully obtain federal funding for their research.
We encourage all eligible women faculty who desire federal funding to apply. Drs. Valian, Rabinowitz, and Nicols-Grinenko will run the Grant Writing Assistance Program, related activities, and evaluations of the effectiveness of the program. Depending on the availability of funds and the number and quality of applications to the program, the GEP anticipates that 6 women scientists or engineers per semester will be able to participate in the program during the course of the NSF ADVANCE PAID award (i.e., 1 June 2007 to 31 May 2010).
The program - supported by NSF funding to Hunter College and CUNY Central Office - is for women faculty who hope to submit a grant application to a federal funding agency by July 2010. The program provides:
- A course release to allow sufficient proposal preparation time
- An initial 4-hour grant writing seminar at Hunter College ( December 2009–Date to be Determined )
